Procurement

Operating the Port of Houston public facilities is a complex business requiring goods and services of all kinds. Helping businesses to do business with the port is essential to the economic health of the communities surrounding the port as well as the state and nation.

Here you can learn about how to do business with the port and what the opportunities are currently.

Vendor Information System Registration

The first step to doing business with the Port of Houston Authority is becoming registered in the Port of Houston Vendor Information System (VIS).  The VIS is your portal to opportunities to do business with the port.

BuySpeed Registration

On JUNE 1, 2016, the Port of Houston Authority’s new BuySpeed e-Procurement System will launch.  Any vendor or supplier who wants to do business with the Port of Houston Authority must register in BuySpeed.  Vendor information from the Vendor Information System (VIS) will NOT transfer to BuySpeed.

Until June 1, 2016, vendors will continue to receive bid notifications through VIS and may respond to bid opportunities that were advertised on VIS prior to June 1, 2016. All procurements will be advertised on BuySpeed after June 1, 2016.

Mark your calendars and re-register today!

During the registration process, please upload your W-9 to complete the registration process.

Unlike VIS, BuySpeed utilizes National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) Codes.  To ensure that you receive email notifications for procurements that are targeted to your specific business type, it is important that the appropriate NIGP Codes are added to your profile.  Below is a NAICS Code-NIGP Code Conversion Chart that will easily identify the associated NIGP Codes.
