Care Terminal

Care Terminal is a 32-acre facility located on the Houston Ship Channel near Channelview, Texas. The facility has excellent inland access and onsite rail siding with switching services provided by the Port Terminal Railroad.

Approximately $14 million in recent improvements include a new state-of-the-art wharf and dock which was designed for handling project and heavy lift cargo. Care Terminal has over 1,100 feet of berthing space directly adjacent to 15 acres of paved open storage area and over 45,000 square foot of warehouse space.

Care Terminal is operated by Coastal Cargo of Texas under a long-term lease from the Port Authority.

Tariff: Port of Houston Tariff No. 8

Wharves: Two wharves. Wharf 1 offers 500 feet of length and 36 feet of water below mean low tide. Wharf 2 was completed in 1998 and offers 618 feet of length and 38 feet of water below mean low tide. Elevation of both wharves is 16 feet above mean low tide.

Truck and Rail Service: The Port Terminal Railroad Association directly serves the facility with regular interchanges with Burlington Northern-Santa Fe and Union Pacific. Almost 150 motor freight lines serve the Port of Houston and this facility has easy access to Interstate 10 via the Sheldon Road exit and Beltway 8 (east) via the Jacintoport Boulevard exit.

Hours of Operation: Normal hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Capable of operating 24 hours per day with prior arrangements.

Storage: 45,900-square-foot transit shed adjacent to Wharf 1 and 15 acres of paved storage.
