Economic Impact

The economic impact of the cruise business is significant.  A single cruise line can generate an economic impact of $50 million annually from about 25 calls. Close to $1 million in state and local taxes will be collected annually. Over a four-year commitment of 102 sailings, 275,000 passengers will generate $200 million, create 100 new jobs and indirectly affect an additional 100 jobs.  Most importantly, the businesses that will benefit from these cruises are local businesses in surrounding communities that service cruise ships, such as fuel and food/beverage vendors. Area hotels, restaurants and entertainment areas will also benefit from this new cruise business.
