In view of escalating costs and expense increases, and recognizing the need to keep Port Authority terminals competitive and operating at compensatory levels to meet the continuing demands of the maritime trades, the Port Commission approved tariff rate increases, effective January 1, 2014. This action enables the Port Authority to maintain its facilities and services as a competitive port and to continue to meet the needs of its customers. The increases are approximately 3% for most rates and include increases in certain security fees as established by the Gulf Seaports Marine Terminal Conference.
