Weather & Emergency Information

Located along the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Port of Houston is subject to tropical storms, hurricanes, and fog, which all interfere with port operations. The Port of Houston Authority works with the U.S. Coast Guard and other emergency responders concerning any closures of the Houston Ship Channel and the port due to weather and other emergencies.

In the case of tropical storms and hurricanes, please consult this manual in PDF format for procedures.

In the case of any emergency, please follow the instructions of the Port Police and other first responders. They have been specially trained for these situations and have your safety foremost in their responsibilities.
