Houston to Host
JOC Breakbulk Conference
For
the first time in its 21-year history, the Journal of
Commerce’s annual Breakbulk Americas Transportation
Conference & Exhibition is headed to the nation’s
leading breakbulk port city: Houston. Under the theme
“The Path Forward,” the conference will
be held at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention
Center during October 12–14.
Day One includes a Port of Houston
boat tour for conference attendees. When the regular
conference program kicks off on Day Two, the Hot Energy
Growth session will feature panelists from several areas
of engineering project construction who will discuss
trends in energy development and where they see the
most potential from the standpoint of demand.
A
conference panel will examine ongoing issues with rail
and highway restrictions covering the movement of project
cargo in North America. The Exporters Competitive Maritime
Council has formed a Specialized Freight Mobility Initiative
to tackle this issue, and it is gaining support in Washington,
D.C., and elsewhere.
The conference program always
takes an in-depth look at emerging markets. Speakers
with projects in Peru will provide insights on metals
and locations that show promise for growth and expansion.
