*The Port of Houston Authority has taken a proactive role in assuring adherence to environmental concerns in the purchasing process. When bids for various chemicals are initially offered, the Port's purchasing department requires the bidders to send the chemicals' “Material Safety Data Sheets” for review. Any chemicals with ingredients that are hazardous to human health or the environment are thoroughly reviewed.

All vendors are encouraged to offer only "environmentally friendly" and nontoxic chemicals on their bids.
