Bayport Container & Cruise Terminal

The $1.2 billion Bayport Container Terminal is a state-of-the-art facility and at total build-out, will substantially increase the port’scontainer handling capacity. The terminal will have a total of seven container berths with the capacity to handle 2.3 million TEUs.

The Bayport Industrial Complex, located adjacent to the BayportContainer Terminal, is a privately owned and operated chemical and chemical specialty complex that includes facilities belonging to more than 70 U.S. and foreign companies.

Berths approximately 1,000 feet
At opening, 1 berth, 60 acres of container yard, capacity up to 360,000 TEUs per year
24-hour security
At buildout, capacity is 1.4 million containers, or approximately 2.3 million TEUs per year
Expected to generate over 29,200 permanent jobs by completion, not counting construction jobs
Opening phase of facility was completed in December 2006
Bayport Terminal Complex, overall:
 
Planned total container yard acreage is 378
Intermodal yard will serve approximately 20% of Bayport cargo,
from an area of approximately 123 acres. Initial IY will open around 2011
400,000 square feet of container freight station space
Total Bayport acreage, including cruise terminals, commercial and industrial co-development areas, and buffer zones is 1,043 acres
