The Port of Houston is a 25-mile-long complex of diversified public and private facilities located just a few hours' sailing time from the Gulf of Mexico. The port is ranked first in the United States in foreign waterborne tonnage (17 consecutive years); first in U.S. imports (21 consecutive years); first in U.S. export tonnage (4 consecutive years) and second in the U.S. in total tonnage (21 consecutive years).

The Port of Houston handles about 70 percent of all the containerized cargo in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Port of Houston Authority’s container handling facilities are among the finest in the nation, providing efficient and cost-effective service.
